If you thought OTTO had a great view before, wait until you take in the view from their new location. The iconic Italian restaurant has moved into its new digs in South Bank, taking over the former home of Stokehouse Q to cement its spot as one of Brisbane’s best restaurants, now with river breezes.

Not too much has changed in the open, riverside venue—why mess with a good thing after all? Pops of the restaurant’s signature sunshine yellow have been added, of course, and to all those asking the question, yes, those fabulous twirling purple fans have made the journey over to South Bank—would it really be OTTO without them?

An extra bonus to taking over the new space was the adjoining bar, where the crew have unveiled OTTO Osteria—our new favourite spot for aperitivo al fresco. Here, wire tables and chairs softened with bright cushions face the river for afternoon bites of fresh oysters, mini focaccias and chargrilled squid, downed with sips from the epic cocktail menu and lengthy wine list.

But let’s talk restaurant—what can you expect from a meal at the new and improved OTTO? Well, with Head Chef Will Cowper still at the helm, you can expect the same swanky modern Italian fare spiced up with seasonal, local produce you know and love, just with even better views. Plenty of familiar dishes are still on the menu, including our personal favourite, the Caprino—woodside goats curd with crisp flatbreads and truffle honey—and the likes of the Rangers Valley ‘OTTO Reserve’ steak with roasted onion, mustard and veal sauce, and butterflied spatchcock with pancetta, potato, chargrilled lemon and capers.

In between entree and main, you’ll want to squeeze in one of the perfectly al dente pastas like the tagliolini with smoked ham hock, egg yolk and pecorino, but make sure you leave room for a dessert of Fichi, with caramelised honey, ricotta, fig and lemon, or a cheese plate if you prefer.

OTTO officially re-opens on Wednesday 3 February and you can scope out everything you need to know here
