With outdoor cinema season around the corner, we've rounded up some of Perth’s best outdoor cinemas to fill your summer with.
Moonlight Cinema

is back, baby. The famed outdoor cinema experience is returning to its usual turf at the iconic Kings Park and Botanic Garden for another mega summer of summertime flicks.
Moviegoers can hit the beanbags from Thursday 5 December through to Sunday 30 March for Christmas classics and the biggest blockbusters of the year (we’re looking at you, WICKED and Gladiator II). It’s the usual Moonlight Cinema groove: you can BYO your fave snacks and rugs, hit the pop-up candybar and Aperol Spritz Bar, or go all out by booking the Platinum Experience or the Gold Grass service.
Rooftop Movies

A retro garden paradise above the streets of Northbridge, is arguably the best outdoor movie experience in Perth, so we're super excited to see it back in action this year from Tuesday 8 October 2024. Kick off the spooky season with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and The Shining, or stick to the classics and new releases. Keep yourself satisfied with a little something from Benedict's Burgerbuns and a drink or two from the bar, thanks to local legends Gage Roads, Skigh Wines and Idle Hands cocktails. Or, keep it tradish with a big box of popcorn and a choctop from the candy bar.
Somerville

Located at the ivy laden grounds of the University of Western Australia and a stone's throw from the Swan River, is hands down one of Perth’s most beautiful outdoor cinema experiences. Nestled between the pine trees you'll find rows and rows of beach chairs, picnickers, strung fairy lights and food huts to keep you satisfied. What you won't find, though, are your big blockbuster films—the movie program here is part of Perth Festival's annual Lotterywest Film Season and features plenty of amazing new international flicks. We’ll be back to give you the lowdown on the 2024/25 program when it gets announced.
Rendezvous Film Club

Scarborough is adding to its summertime allure with its rooftop cinema that sits 24 levels above the beachside action, on top of the iconic Rendezvous Hotel. Boasting panoramic ocean views, premium snacks and movie-themed cocktails crafted by Four Pillars, the is set to return for the 2024/25 season (program to be released).

Aside from providing you with plenty of good movie films, the will leave you feeling good about yourself for donating some of your hard-earned cash to kiddos in need. The tickets are cheap, the sausage sizzle is killer and(!) they're licensed.

is where the movie magic happens. Get a car full of friends (or a hot date) and stock up on pillows, blankets and caramel popcorn from the candy bar—there’s so much nostalgia to be had.

During the warmer months, you can often catch completely free outdoor screenings at . There's no need to book but we suggest you head in early to claim a beanbag, otherwise just throw down a rug and cuddle up. You can BYO picnic goodies or just grab some takeout from a nearby restaurant and make a night of it. Stay tuned for more info on what's happening this summer.
Luna Outdoor Cinema
163 Oxford Street, Leederville
Out the back of the Luna cinema in Leederville, and guarded by a small town of garden gnomes, is the perfect place to spend a balmy summer night. Head there for indie flicks fresh from the festival circuit washed down with cheeseboards, choc bombs and cocktails. The full program is due to drop soon with sessions kicking off sometime in December.
