The Verdict
The new restaurant of MasterChef’s 2016 runner-up Matt Sinclair and three of his mates, Sum Yung Guys serves up incredible pan-Asian fare in Noosaville. Dishing up share-style plates, you’ll find a mix of Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and Korean flavours across the menu.
From cured Spanish mackerel delicately draped over nam jim and completed with coconut and kaffir lime, to Gangnam-style beef tartare which comes hidden among a net of crispy potato, it’s pretty much impossible to leave here disappointed.
Along with the tastes and the tipples, it’s the fit-out that really hits home that this is not your average restaurant. Going against the Queensland trend of white and bright, the interior is almost moody, with dim lighting, mammoth street murals taking over the walls and neon signage.
