From the dream team behind Bucketty’s Brewing Co, Chalky’s is the Northern Beaches’ first dedicated pool hall, but it’s more than just cues and chalk. This sprawling sports bar, karaoke joint and cocktail den brings an extra layer of fun to Brookvale’s brewery scene.
Six Aussie-made pool tables fill the space, available on a first-come, first-served basis at $20 per hour. Head to the pool bar to book a table and grab a set of balls, then rack ‘em and rinse your mates.
At the back of the room, a super duper big screen (the biggest in the Beaches) streams live sports games, pulling a crowd of keen punters for footy games, UFC matches and more.
Take in all the action from the comfy sideline benches with a craft beer from the 16-strong tap lineup spotlighting nearby breweries, as well as Bucketty’s lagers, ginger beer and bush cider.
Feel like belting out a few tunes? The two private karaoke booths are stocked with over 400,000 songs to choose from. Grandma’s Room holds four to ten singers, while the Rockstar Room is ready for up to 20 mates.
Push past the chaos and you’ll find Valentines Bar, a moody cocktail lounge paying homage to the ’70s Northern Beaches wedding venue of the same name. The drinks menu is stocked with top-shelf wine, bubbles and house-made cocktails like the Espresso Stoutini, a bold mix of Bucketty’s stout, vodka, coffee liqueur and cold brew.
A South American-leaning food menu is filled with pub classics by Chef Marti, whose CV spans Michelin-starred kitchens from New York to Singapore. There are crispy chicken tenders, an upgraded chilli dog, and a streaky bacon cheeseburger. Or for something heftier, go for the humongous shared nachos, grilled ribeye steak or slow-cooked lamb shoulder for two.
