The Details

Get excited vegans, because Brisbane just scored an entirely plant-based ramen spot, and it is not just the noods that will have you racing to get a booking. Landing in the ever expanding foodie hub that is Everton Park on the north side, Neon Ramen is here to cater to anime fans, cat lovers, plant-based foodies and just anyone who loves a steaming hot bowl of ramen.

Wondering how a ramen spot ties all these seemingly random things together? Let us explain. Firstly, you’ll spot Neon Ramen from a mile away thanks to the vibrant, backlit anime murals lining its walls. Cute neon sushi signs also dot the venue, while a cherry blossom ceiling smiles down on you from above. And the cats? Well you’ll slurp your ramen out of cat-shaped bowls, complete with pink, pointy ears as you colour in a Hello Kitty covered menu—colouring in pencils provided.

The ramen menu here is a DIY affair—you’ll choose your broth (miso, shiitake or tan tan), your noodles (white, yellow or gluten-free) and your protein with options of either fried tofu or a smoked duck, char sui pork or katsu chicken alternative. Last but not least, it’s time to finish that bad boy off, with toppings like edamame, pickled ginger and seasonal Asian greens to add.

Need more than just noodles? Neon Ramen also serves up snacks and sides like katsu fries, tempura vegetables and bao buns, along with a handful of desserts and stir-fries for the non-ramen lovers (they are out there). With all this on offer, the eatery is understandably packed most nights of the week, so we recommend getting a booking before you swing by.
