The talented team behind Surry Hills' Tuscan-inspired eatery Giuls has officially expanded its footprint, setting up their signature striped umbrellas in a brand-new spot on Stanley Street.
Called Harry's By Giuls, the vibe is casual Milanese complete with Italian tapas, homemade pasta, pizza, and an all-Italian wine list.
As with Giuls, heading up the kitchen is co-owner Esmeralda Perez and Michelin-trained chef Alessio Rago. Drop in for an after work vino and fill up on refined snacks like East 33 oysters with pickle pear mignonette, scallop crudo with blood orange and raspberry, or fried polenta with spicy aioli and Cantabrian anchovies.
The hero of the pasta menu is the "drunk pasta", which involves red wine-infused handmade pasta and a cherry tomato and chilli sauce. Meanwhile, the squid ink mafaldine with baby octopus, tomato, and confit garlic is also a must-try.
Alongside the delicious lineup of Italian wines, you'll find Moretti and Birra Friuli beers and a neat list of classic and signature cocktails. The "Harry's Secret Garden" is a fresh spritz-style concoction featuring Bulldog gin, cardamom-rosemary-strawberry liqueur, Prosecco, and soda.
"Harry's is all about fresh Italian food, Esmeralda and the team produce almost everything in-house and fresh each day," explains co-owner Giulia Treuner.
"It is a casual neighbourhood restaurant with amazing food and amazing vibes. I named the restaurant Harry's as a tribute to my Grandfather. He was self-employed and was always the driving force behind my own entrepreneurial nature. We discovered a love of Italian food together, travelling to Italy in the summertime and spending every Sunday together eating pasta."
