The Verdict

This Japanese-themed Surry Hills bar has a bit of everything going on, making it the perfect destination for a night out in Sydney. There is a big focus on music at Goros, as American classics are fused with disco and Japanese pop.

Food is served izakaya style with gyoza, Japanese style burgers and yakitori which include pork belly, chicken thigh and other tasty things. Beers are predominantly Japanese and there is also an extensive sake menu, as well as a short but delicious cocktail list. Try the ‘Unusual Negroni’ created with Four Pillars gin, Campari, ume-shu and aromatic bitters.

In true Japanese style, Goros doubles as a karaoke bar for those nights when a few drinks just won’t cut it and you need to let your freak flag fly. Rooms can be booked, so you and your mates can dance the night away while belting out Mariah like nobody is listening (they are, but it’s okay). 

Want to hear the best news of all? Goros is free from those pesky lockout laws, so you’re free to pop by at any time (within reason, guys!) without being told to pack it in by a snotty bouncer. That’s right, you can have cocktails and karaoke until the cows come home. Because everyone knows Justin Bieber sounds better at 3am.
