The Details
Chef Chase Kojima is one force to be reckoned with. The Japanese culinary firecracker carved out a solid reputation as an award-winning chef at Sydney’s fine dining restaurant Sokyo, but most recently, he’s raked in even more accolades with his very own luxury sushi and sashimi joint dubbed Simulation Senpai in Haymarket—a humble idea that stemmed from wanting to provide work for his Sokyo team when Covid hit, jobs were cut and takeaway reigned supreme.
When we say luxury, we mean luxury. At Simulation Senpai you can expect a baller bento box that’s meticulously crafted and presented, brimming with the freshest produce. Think gold leafed sashimi lobster, duck foie gras, uni, scampi, caviar, A5 wagyu beef, and—when it’s in season—black truffle, all on a bed of warm, delicious sushi rice.
While Simulation Senpai’s bento boxes and dishes are on the slightly pricier end of the takeaway scale (most dishes range between $35-100), we guarantee they’re unforgettable and worth every penny. Located on the ground floor of the Exchange Building in Darling Square’s dining precinct, it’s the perfect place to break up your workday or a big day of city shopping. Pull up a chair or bliss out on a patch of grass in the park and level up your lunch while treating yourself to one of Chase’s flavour bombs.
Fine dining takeaway? We’re totally on board. And if you need even more convincing? Check out Simulation Senpai’s breathtakingly beautiful dishes .
